Message from President

Dear ladies and gentlemen

I am Sean Samnang , president of Cambodia Orphan Save Organization (COSO), a shelter of the poor, homeless and orphaned in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. I would like to welcome you to the Cambodia Orphan Save  Organization  (COSO) website. This is an exciting time for me in both my projects and my personal life. The COSO (Non-Government Organization) was established on 11 September 2007 (previously being known as COSA, formed in 2006). The COSO (NGO) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established to assist children in receiving their basic rights to food, shelter, protection and education. At COSO, we justly believe every life has equal value and each person is worthy of the chance of having a better way of life. As one who received a chance and has succeeded in life because of COSO’s support, I know how valuable chances are. The purpose of our programme is to give these vulnerable groups that same opportunity by contributing to and assisting them in their efforts. You will find ways to support our projects on the pages of this website under the Sponsorship and Project sections. You can also donate directly to COSO under the Donate section of the website.

Please be sure to visit the COSO orphanage and learn more about our children and our projects ! A donation for even just one of the children from you will also help others. If you look at our photo section you will be able to see the various activities that are enjoyed by the children. These activities have been donated by voluntary teachers and generous visitors, many of whom have given their time and resources, adding to the opportunities we can offer our children, such as Khmer traditional dance, music, COSO's souvenir shop and sports activities. I would like all these wonderful people to know how thankful we all are for their generous efforts on behalf of our children. We appreciate each and every one of them. Every adult who works at COSO currently does so as a volunteer. No salaries are paid to anyone, and have not been for some time, but everyone who lives here receives their board and lodging. Adults and children share the same basic but healthy life-style, and all eat the same simple but nutritious meals.

COSO has been providing 55 children with shelter, sustenance through meals served three times every day, daily supplies- clothes , shoes, mosquito nets, blankets, mattresses, medical supplies, school supplies, especially education and rice supplies, and other basic necessities. We do not have running water or electricity on site, so we need diesel to run the generator which keeps this computer going! The COSO children spend three hours every day of learning languages, thanks to a teacher whose wage has been supported by a donor from Australia.

COSO’s main source of funding is provided by the generosity of tourists and volunteers travelling through Siem Reap town who come to visit the orphanage.

By choosing to donate to our urgent running costs, your contribution will go directly towards buying rice, food, fruit, vegetables, meat, diesel fuel, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste and basic medical supplies.

Thank you very much for your spending the time to read our project carefully.

I would like to wish you good luck and good health.

Warm regards,

Sean Samnang, President of COSO !
